Bangalore, Sep 13 (IANS) Though the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is opposed to the India-US nuclear deal, it does not intend to make it a major plank of its Lok Sabha poll campaign, a party leader indicated Saturday. The Lok Sabha elections, due next year, will be fought on four issues, inflation, terrorism, agricultural crisis and “appeasement policies” of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, BJP general secretary H.N. Ananth Kumar said.
He was talking to reporters after releasing the political resolution adopted by the party’s national executive on the second day of its three-day meet.
“It will be part of the security issue,” Ananth Kumar said when asked about the party’s stand on the nuclear deal being a poll plank.
He said the party will organise 14 Vijay Sankalp Yatras, or victory rallies, as part of the campaign for both Lok Sabha polls and assembly elections in several states later this year.
BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani will be the main speaker at the rallies which begin here Saturday and conclude in Hyderabad Oct 25, Ananth Kumar said.
