BJP leaders visit Kashmir’s Hazratbal shrine

Srinagar, April 14 (IANS) A team of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders currently visiting Jammu and Kashmir paid obeisance at the valley’s holiest Muslim shrine of Hazratbal here Thursday morning. The leaders also visited the family of slain Kashmiri religious leader Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah.
Rajnath Singh, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Shahnawaz Hussain, accompanied by some other parliament members of the BJP, visited the shrine and prayed for peace and prosperity for the state, sources in the BJP said here.
The Hazratbal shrine houses the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad.
Later, the team went to the house of the slain religious leader Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah, located in the Lal Bazar area of the summer capital Srinagar.
The BJP leaders expressed condolences to the bereaved family and met the son and the brother of the slain Ahlehadees president.
Shah was killed in the blast of a low intensity improvised explosive device (IED) placed on a bicycle outside the Ahlehadees mosque here April 8.
The BJP leaders also paid respects at the Chati Padshahi Gurdwara (Sikh temple) in the old city’s Rainawari area.
