BJP leader, brother shot dead in Uttar Pradesh

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), March 3 (IANS) A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and his brother were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in this Uttar Pradesh city Thursday, police said.
Yashpal Singh Chauhan, the BJP’s district vice president, was attacked by car-borne assailants in Kasimpur area.
According to the police, three passers-by were also injured in the incident. However, their condition is stated to be out of danger.
“Though we are yet to nab the assailants, preliminary investigations indicate the two were shot dead over a property dispute,” Superintendent of Police (City) Maan Singh Chauhan told reporters in Aligarh, some 300 km from Lucknow.
According to officials, Yashpal had contested the state assembly elections in 2007 from Barauli in Aligarh.
