New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday did not rule out the possibility of replacing Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank as chief minister of Uttarakhand and said if a decision is taken it will be made known.
Responding to queries that the party might replace Nishank with former chief minister B.C. Khanduri ahead of assembly polls expected next year, party leader Sushma Swaraj said no decision had been taken yet on the matter.
“There is no decision like that now. If a decision is taken, you will come to know,” she said.
BJP’s parliamentary board had met Thursday to discuss poll preparedness in Uttarakhand and the question of change in leadership.
Party sources said top party leaders will hold talks with senior state party leaders before taking a final decision on the change in guard in the state in the wake of alleged corruption scandals facing the state government.
Party sources said Khanduri’s clean image and development oriented approach were factors in his favour.
