New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday demanded a special session of parliament to discuss the agrarian crisis in the country.
“There is a need for a thorough discussion. It is a larger issue of survival of agriculture,” BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu told reporters.
“The entire farmer community is in great distress, a serious crisis is awaiting unless steps are taken,” he said.
Earlier initiating a debate on agrarian crisis in the Rajya Sabha, the BJP leader also demanded separate budget for agriculture.
Naidu also said that several other parties also supported this demand.
