New Delhi, July 24 (IANS) Welcoming Nepal’s historic transition to democracy, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday congratulated President Ram Baran Yadav on winning the first presidential election in the Himalayan nation. Describing Yadav’s victory in the presidential polls as “a defining moment not just for Nepal but for the whole South Asian region”, BJP president Rajnath Singh, in a congratulatory message to Yadav, hoped that Nepal will “emerge and establish itself as a vibrant democracy under your able guidance”.

The BJP president said his party as well as the people of India were looking forward to Yadav’s tenure with great optimism and he was sure that India and Nepal would continue to carry forward the centuries of cultural relationship by maintaining cordial and peaceful bilateral relations in the future too.

“My party will be happy to extend full cooperation and support in pursuing this objective,” Singh said.
