New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday backed its senior leader L.K. Advani’s decision to undertake a ‘yatra’ against corruption.
Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, the leaders of opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, said Advani was undertaking the yatra with the “full support of the party”.
“He has the full support from the party, he is no different from the party” said Swaraj.
“At the BJP Parliamentary Board meet yesterday, party president (Nitin Gadkari) asked officials to formulate a plan on Advani’s yatra. The entire party backs it,” she said.
Advani Thursday announced that he will be going for a ‘yatra’ against corruption and that details of the tour were still to be finalised.
Both Jaitley and Sushma however declined to comment on whether the ‘yatra’ made Advani BJP’s prime ministerial candidate in next Lok Sabha polls.
