Patna, March 18 (IANS) A 22-year-old student committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in a private hostel here, apparently after failing her exams, the police said Tuesday. The police recovered the body of Saloni Kumari, who was pursuing BCA from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), from her hostel room Monday night.
Kumari, the daughter of Chapra-based businessman Harihar Prasad of Sarkari Bazaar, was staying in Adarsh Girls’ Hostel on Boring Canal Road under Buddha Colony police station here. She had failed in one of her subjects recently.
The evidence found by police during preliminary investigation indicated that she had hanged herself, said Gaurishankar Singh, officer in charge of the police station.
Her friends in the hostel told the police that she was depressed after her examination results.
