Bhupathi-Knowles in US Open second round, Bopanna-Qureshi out
August 29th, 2008 - 11:11 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New York, Aug 29 (IANS) India’s Mahesh Bhupathi and his Bahamas partner Mark Knowles eased into the second round of the doubles event at the US Open as another doubles pair of Indian Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq Quereshi bowed out in its opening encounter. Fourth seeded Bhupathi-Knowles knocked out Swedes Johan Brunstrom and Thomas Johansson, 6-3, 6-4 here Thursday.
Bopanna-Quereshi went down 5-7, 3-6 to Frenchmen Marc Gicquel and Sebastien Grosjean.
Bhupathi-Knowles next meet Swiss Yves Allegro and Romanian Horia Tecau.
