Bhindranwale posters not vitiating Punjab atmosphere: DGP
December 1st, 2009 - 6:46 pm ICT by IANS ( 3 comments )Chandigarh, Dec 1 (IANS) Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) P.S. Gill Tuesday said that the sale and use of posters of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, the man who spearheaded the movement for a separate Sikh state ‘Khalistan’ in the early 1980s, was not vitiating the atmosphere in the border state.
“This is not vitiating the atmosphere in the state,” Gill told media persons here.
The DGP indicated that the sale and use of posters of Bhindranwale, who is regarded as a martyr among radical sections of Sikhs, could not lead to revival of terrorism in the state as had happened between 1981 and 1995.
Bhindranwale was the leader of a heavily armed group of people who had entrenched themselves in the Golden Temple complex, which has the holiest of Sikh shrines Harmandar Sahib inside, in the early 1980s.
He was among those killed in the Indian Army’s Operation Bluestar in June 1984.
In the last couple of years, posters, stickers, pamphlets and T-shirts carrying Bhindranwale’s pictures are being sold openly across Punjab. A large number of vehicles, especially taxis and those driven by youth, carry his posters and stickers.

Guru Tegh Bahadar’s An Ideal Human Being
http://www.sikhvicharmanch.com/Religiou%20Politics-Guru%20Tegh%20Bahadar%20And%20The%20Perfect%20Human%20Being.htm
To mark the martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadar, S. Khushwant Singh wrote: I reproduce my translation of one of Guru Tegh Bahadar hymns — entitled Jo nar dukh mein dukh nahi manai — devoted to describing an ideal human being:
He who in adversity grieves not;
He who is without fear;
He who falls not in the snare of sensuality;
Who has no greed for gold, knowing it is like dust;
He who does not slander people when their backs are turned;
Nor flatters them to their faces;
He who has neither gluttony in his heart;
Nor vanity, nor attachment to
worldly things;
He whom nothing moves;
Neither good fortune nor ill;
Who cares not for worldly applause;
Nor its censure;
Who ignores every wishful fantasy;
And accepts what comes his way at it comes;
He whom lust cannot lure;
Nor anger command;
In such a one lives God himself;
On such a one God’s Grace descends;
For he knows the righteous path;
O Nanak, his soul mingles with the Lord;
As water mingles with water.

what a disgusting piece on bhindranwale!!
he never championed a seperate sikh state and he never called for anyones killing!!
the government had flooded punjab with booze and drugs and he just went from village to village teaching sikhi to the youngsters and telling therm not to intoxicate thier minds with these substances!!
the good guys who actually try to help the people always get killed by the state!!
bhindranwale said…” if your a muslim, be a good muslim, if your a hindu be a good hindu and if your a sikh, then be a good sikh”
he was no terrorist…INDIRA GANDHI was a terrorist!!
