Bengal Maoist leader held in Orissa
April 19th, 2011 - 9:53 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, April 19 (IANS) Orissa police Tuesday claimed to have arrested a Maoist area commander wanted in nearly 30 crimes, including murder and extortion, in West Bengal.
Khokan Mahato was picked up along with two others during a raid near Bangiriposi in tribal populated Mayurbhanj district, about 320 km from Bhubaneswar, a senior district police official told IANS.
Mahato, 35, was a Maoist area commander in Jhargram police station area of West Midnapore district in West Bengal, said the police.
He was also accused in three criminal cases in Orissa, the official added.
