Berlin, Sep 25 (IANS) Germany’s Bayern Munich showed all its class when it defeated Leverkusen 3-0 to remain on the top of Bundesliga football Saturday.
The Bavarians dominated the match from the kick-off as young striker Thomas Mueller opened the scoring after a build-up play by midfielder Franck Ribery.
With 19 minutes into the match, Bayern defender Daniel van Buyten extended the lead to 2-0 when he marked a dead ball goal from 25 metre into bottom left.
Bayern retracted with the lead but Leverkusen failed to overcome Bayern’s well-positioned defence. Finally, midfielder and Dutchemn Arjen Robben marked the final 3-0 score at the 90th minute after he was fielded 12 minutes earlier.
It is the sixth consecutive victory out of seven matches for the German giants, the Xinhua reported.
In the other matches, Schalke turned a 0-1 deficit to win 4-2 against Freiburg for their former coach Ralf Rangnick, who suddenly resigned due to burnout.
Dortmund showed will when they earned a last minute 1-0 victory against Wolfburg.
Bundesliga newbie Augsburg and Hannover shared points after a goal-less draw.
