London, Feb 21 (IANS) Singer Gary Barlow of Take That has ended up hurting his back just days before he is to climb the 19,000 foot Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.

According to thesun.co.uk, the 38-year old Barlow hurt his back while training for the climb.

But he is keen to get well in time for the expedition. He was also about to cancel his appearance at the Brit awards but took some painkillers and went on with the show.

Barlow has visited a doctor at the Olympic Medical Institute in Harrow, West London.

A source said: “Gary has had a twinge in his back for a few weeks. He has a baby daughter and lifting her also put pressure on it. He is now flat on his back at home so the swelling goes down.”

A spokesperson for the charity, Comic Relief, said: “We are fortunate to have the support of eminent sport professionals on the climb. Gary is lucky they found the injury in its early stages.”
