Bansal is named new BSF chief
September 29th, 2011 - 9:58 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 29 (IANS) U.K. Bansal, at present secretary (internal security) in the home ministry, was Thursday appointed the new director general of the Border Security Force.
Bansal, a 1974 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, will take over his new appointment from Oct 31. He will succeed Raman Srivastava, who retires that day.
“U.K. Bansal, IPS, has been appointed as the next director general of the Border Security Force (BSF). He will take the place of Raman Srivastava, who retires on Oct 31,” a government release said.
Bansal joined the home ministry as special secretary (internal security) in August 2009 and was later promoted as secretary (internal security).
During his 37 years in the IPS, Bansal has held several important responsibilities in Uttar Pradesh Police, Border Security Force and the cabinet secretariat.
