New Delhi, June 30 (IANS) A 22-year-old woman Monday alleged that four unknown men had raped her in the Central Park of Connaught Place in the heart of New Delhi, but the police termed her allegation as fake and concocted. The matter came to light when Lady Hardinge Hospital authorities informed the police that a woman claiming to be a victim of rape was admitted in the hospital.

The victim said four men raped her late Saturday in the Central Park, which is closed for public after 9 p.m. every day. The park is guarded by eight men.

The police officials, who questioned her in the hospital, said medical tests confirmed that she had not been raped.

“The woman, a vagabond who sells balloons in Connaught Place, is making false allegations. Medical reports have confirmed that she was not raped. She did not reply when we asked about the clothes she was wearing at the time of incident,” said Harcharan Verma, in-charge of the Connaught Place police station.

“She said she did not report the matter on Saturday as she could not find Kusum Seghal, who runs an NGO in a nearby area.”

“We suspect she is being used by Sehgal to take some kind of revenge on the police,” Verma told IANS.

He said the police would take appropriate action against the women for making false complaint to the police.
