Bhopal, March 21 (IANS) Bajrang Dal activists here Friday blocked traffic at Misrod Highway for hours and also burnt a truck, claiming the police allowed two trucks loaded with head of cattle to pass through to Rajasthan.
The cattle, they alleged, were taken from Hoshangabad district of the state to Rajasthan for being slaughtered. The police had to use mild force to disperse the crowds to bring the situation under control.

“Some Bajrang Dal activists caught a truck carrying bovines in the morning, and alleged that the police allowed to pass two other trucks similarly carrying cows and buffaloes from Hoshangabad to Rajasthan for slaughter”, the police said.

Soon the number of activists swelled to hundreds and they blocked the traffic on highway near Misrod police station. The crowds demanded seizure of the trucks that were allowed to pass and action against the policemen responsible for it.

“When the senior police officials tried to pacify them, they released the bovines from the truck they had caught and set the vehicle on fire. Our men also had to use mild force to bring the mob under control. The situation is now normal”, Additional Police Superintendent Arvind Saxena said.

Bajrang Dal leaders, however, denied setting the truck on fire and alleged that the cattle were being smuggled to slaughter houses in Rajasthan and other places with the connivance of the police.
