Auto lifters’ gang busted in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Aug 29 (IANS) An inter-state gang of automobile lifters was busted with the arrest of two persons in Uttar Pradesh, the police said Friday.Padam Singh and Shakeel were arrested from their hideout on the Chandausi Road in Moradabad district, some 270 km from here.

“The two operated in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab,” police officer D.C. Sharma told IANS.

“The two and their associates lifted motorcycles, and later, by making fake registration documents of the vehicles, sold these in different states,” he added.

A total of 13 stolen motorcycles were seized from their hideout, the police said.

Padam and Shakeel, who are being interrogated, were reportedly operating the racket for the last five years, the police added.
