Australian sailor dies during India visit
October 24th, 2011 - 11:50 am ICT by IANSCanberra, Oct 24 (IANS) An Australian Navy sailor has died on Her Majesty’s Australian Ship (HMAS) Toowoomba during a port visit to India’s Mumbai city, Australian authorities said Monday.
HMAS Toowoomba is conducting a port visit to Mumbai, and was on its way home from the Middle East.
The cause of death is yet to be known, and circumstances surrounding the death are currently under investigation by defense and embassy officials, reported Xinhua.
“The defense community organization and navy is providing support to the sailor’s family and counselling is being offered to the sailor’s crew mates,” the defense department said in a statement released Monday.
