Australian Nobbs is India’s hockey coach
June 29th, 2011 - 3:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 29 (IANS) Australian Michael Nobbs was Wednesday named the coach of the Indian men’s hockey team. His tenure will run till the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
The Australian was selected over Dutch rivals Roelant Oltmans, who coached the Netherlands to the gold in the 1996 Olympics and Jacques Brinkman, two-time Olympic gold medal winner in 1996 and 2000.
The trio presented their case Tuesday before a panel comprising Hockey India (HI) and Sports Authority of India officials.
