Audi launches sedan A8’s new variant

Mumbai, July 25 (IANS) German luxury car manufacturer Audi Monday launched a new variant of its A8 sedan priced at Rs. 12,656,000 (ex-showroom Maharashtra).

“The addition of powerful engine to the Audi A8 L range in India will further consolidate our position in the limousine segment,” said Michael Perschke, head, Audi India adding that the first batch of 20 cars for the country is nearly sold out.

According to the company, the new variant is equipped with a 6.3 FSI engine which provides an output of 500 hp and a peak torque of 625 Nm at 3,250 rpm.

“This gives the Audi A8 L W12 quattro the kind of performance normally expected of a sports car,” the company said in a statement.

The statement further said that the car can sprint from 0 km/hr to 100 km/hr in only 4.7 seconds.

“The eight-speed tiptronic shifts quickly. Performed electronically (”shift by wire”) from an elegant yacht-style selector lever or (optional) steering wheel paddles,” the statement said.

Feature-wise the car comes with a slew of luxury and safety features, like front and back seat automatic adjustment coupled with communication assistance systems.

Other features include restrained ambient lighting, sun roof and two monitor screens in the car.

The company currently offers various models like A4, A6, A8, A7 Sportback, Q5, Q7 and RS5 and super sports cars R8, R8 Spyder.
