Auburn University Running Back Nominated As A Semifinalist For Doak Walker Award 2009

benNov.28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Auburn University running back Ben Tate is in news lately as the player is among the top 10 semifinalists for the 2009 Doak Walker Award. Ben who is a senior at the Auburn University is said to be one of the most promising running back and is considered to be among the top prospects of the 2010 NFL draft.

Reacting to the nomination, Ben expressed his delight and added that the selection would enable him to gain recognition as a top running back across the nation. Ben started his career at Stephen Decatur where he played high school football for three years. Throughout his high school career, Ben achieved many milestones where he received as a senior the title of Gatorade State Player of the Year and at the same time he also delivered the state record of the total yards in a career. Moreover, the young player was declared to be the consensus pick of all the states and received the honor of Maryland state records for yards rushing in a career. Keeping his achievements in mind, his nomination for the award hardly came as a surprise.

The Doak Walker Award is given out annually to give recognition to the top running back of year for his achievements on the field as well as academically. The award is considered unique in itself as public play a pivotal role in deciding the final three finalist from which the winner would be selected ultimately. Fans can cast their votes till December 9 and the final winner would be declared a day later at The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards show.
