ATS nabs man smuggling firearms from Nepal
December 31st, 2010 - 10:02 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Dec 31 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) Friday arrested a man in Kanpur in connection with the smuggling of firearms from Nepal, Bihar and West Bengal and supplying them to Delhi and other states.Kapil Kumar was arrested with three foreign-made pistols, two country-made pistols and around 35 live cartridges, from outside the Kanpur railway station, some 80 km from Lucknow.
“Kumar used to supply the smuggled firearms to criminal gangs of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan,” an ATS press statement said here Friday evening.
Kumar is a native of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh and was involved in the crime since last several years, officials said.
