Shanghai, Nov 14 (IANS) The growing popularity of tennis in Asia has prompted The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) to increase the number of tournaments to five in the region from next year.ATP head Brad Drewett told reporters here that it is likely that the event will be hosted in a “new market”.

He, however, said the decision will be finalised in another three months.

“The ATP is currently focussing on the strategic value and obviously any organisation wants to be strong in Asia right now,” Drewett said. “Everyone knows that in coming years, Asia is the growth region of the world and we’re trying to grow our brand and sport in the region as best as we can.”
