A.S. Gill takes over as director general CRPF

New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) A.S. Gill, a 1972-batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Rajasthan cadre, Saturday took over as the director general of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) following the retirement of his predecessor V.K. Joshi.
Gill after taking charge at the CRPF headquarters here said Maoist insurgency was the biggest challenge and the force was doing excellent job to deal with the menace.

He said his welfare of force personnel would be his priority.

CRPF, the world’s largest paramilitary force, has 203 battalions and is the main striking force against the insurgents in the northeast, Jammu and Kashmir and Maoists affected areas.
