Arrest warrant issued against Himachal cop for graft

Shimla, June 16 (IANS) A Himachal Pradesh court Thursday issued arrest warrants for indian Police Service (IPS) officer K.K. Indoria, who is on the run after being suspended on charges of corruption.

The sessions court in Kullu has ordered the arrest of Indoria in a graft case registered by the state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau, Additional Director General of Police K.C. Sadyal told IANS here.

“This is a first step to declare an accused a proclaimed offender,” he added.

Indoria, who was earlier superintendent of police in Kullu, was facing charges of corruption and benefiting from Allain Duhangan Hydropower Ltd during his tenure from 2009 to 2010.

Indoria was earlier granted anticipatory bail by the Himachal Pradesh High Court March 1. His anticipatory bail expired March 10.

He has been on the run and evading arrest since the Supreme Court rejected his bail plea almost a month ago.

The state government suspended Indoria, a promotee IPS officer, April 14.
