Army training chief to head northern command
September 3rd, 2009 - 11:22 am ICT (UTC +0700) by IANSShimla, Sep 3 (IANS) Lt General B.S. Jaswal, the chief of Shimla-based Army Training Command (ARTRAC), will now head the Northern Command of the Indian Army, an official statement said Thursday.
“ARTRAC chief Lt General B.S. Jaswal has been appointed as GOC-in-C (general officer commanding-in-chief) of Northern Command. He will assume charge Oct 1,” said the statement.
General Jaswal will succeed Lt General P.C. Bhardwaj, who will take over as the vice-chief of the Army Staff.
General Jaswal, who is an expert in combating insurgency, will be succeeded by Lt General A.S. Lamba, currently the chief of staff at ARTRAC headquarters.
