Army captain injured in Kashmir gunfight
June 23rd, 2010 - 12:55 pm ICT by IANSJammu, June 23 (IANS) A captain of the Indian Army was injured in a firefight with militants in Bhanot area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, army officials said.
Captain Nikhil Bismit of 12 Grenadiers came under attack by militants in Bhanot area near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, 230 km north of Jammu, Tuesday night, the officials said.
He received bullet injuries and was shifted to a military hospital in Poonch.
A fierce gunfight followed between security personnel and the militants. A group of four to five militants is believed to be trapped as the fighting continues.
