New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots are to hold a protest rally in the capital Wednesday demanding punishment for those guilty and present a memorandum to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.
The victims under the banner of Anti-Sikh Riots Society will hold a protest at Jantar Mantar, said Atma Singh Lubana, president of the group.
“We want immediate action against those guilty in the anti-Sikh riots. It is shameful that the government has not been able to punish them even after so many years have elapsed,” said Lubana.
Over 3,000 Sikhs across Delhi were killed in communal frenzy in the days following the assassination of then prime minister Indira Gandhi Oct 31, 1984.
