Anti-nuke activists plan ‘jail bharo’
January 12th, 2012 - 9:36 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Mumbai, Jan 12 (IANS) Over 10,000 villagers from Ratnagiri in Maharashtra have planned a two-day ‘jail bharo’ protest from Jan 24 to protest against the proposed 9,900 MW Jaitapur Nuclear Power Project.
On Jan 26, the people in the area will boycott the official celebrations and flag hoisting ceremony meant to mark Republic Day, Satyajit Chavan, who heads the Konkan Vinashkari Prakalp Virodhi Samiti, told IANS.
Students would stay away from schools during these days and a model of the JNPP would be ‘buried’ as a symbolic protest.
