New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS) The Supreme Court Friday granted bail to real estate tycoons Gopal and Sushil Ansal who were undergoing a year-long jail term following their conviction for lapses that led to the June 1997 Uphaar theatre fire tragedy.A bench of Justice S.B. Sinha and V.S. Sirpurkar granted the Ansal brothers bail on a petition filed by them, challenging their convictions in the case.
Fifty-nine people, including 22 children, had died and over 100 were injured in the fire in the south Delhi cinema hall owned by the Ansal brothers.
