Another suspected thief lynched in Uttar Pradesh
August 7th, 2009 - 7:38 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Aug 7 (IANS) In the fourth such incident in the last eight days in Uttar Pradesh, a man suspected to be a thief was lynched in Bulandshahr district, police said Friday.
“The 30-year-old man, whose identity is yet to be ascertained was beaten to death Thursday night by an angry mob in the Aurangabad locality in Bulandshahr,” police inspector Balbeer Singh told IANS over phone.
“The youth was assaulted with wooden sticks after he was caught sneaking inside the house of a farmer,” he added.
According to police, a case of murder has been registered against 15 unidentified people. No arrests have been made yet.
Bulandshahr is about 400 km from Lucknow.
On July 31, a suspected thief was lynched in Lakhimpur Kheri, while two criminals, who had shot dead a milkman were killed in the same manner by villagers in Agra while they were trying to flee from the spot.
