New Delhi, July 20 (IANS) Delhi Police Wednesday said they have arrested five call girls and two woman pimps here, the third sex racket to be busted in less than 10 days.

Woman pimps Premlata, 35, and Shanti Devi, 50, were arrested along with five girls, aged between 19 to 24 years, in Rohini area of north Delhi Tuesday following a tip-off, a police officer said.

He said the police sent a decoy customer to the pimps after receiving information that they were luring prospective customers.

During interrogation, the pimps told the police that they procured the girls from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh and Rudrapur in Uttarakhand on a monthly contract of Rs.50,000 each.

“They used to provide accommodation and liquor for the purpose of prostitution at their house by charging an extra Rs.1,000,” said the officer.

Earlier Monday, police arrested seven women, mostly from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and an Indian pimp.

The six call girls were paid Rs.1 lakh a month, a police officer said. The seventh woman was a pimp — and a foreigner too. The male pimp was identified as Deepak Verma, 25, from Pittoragarh in Uttaranchal.

The foreigners visited India on tourist visas, stayed in Delhi for two to six months and offered their services to select customers.

The arrests were made Monday from Delhi’s South Extension area following a deal struck with a decoy customer, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Chand said.

Police July 12 also arrested five call girls and two pimps from Chhatarpur Enclave in south Delhi.

The kingpin of the racket, a 27-year-old Najma Khan, operated a network of call girls.
