Anisha Padukone hits longest drive at golf tourney

Chennai, Aug 26 (IANS) Anisha Padukone, the younger sister of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, won the honours for the longest drive in the silver division in the first round of the Indian Golf Union categorised Madras Ladies Golf championship here Tuesday.Delhi schoolgirl Lavery Kumar topped in all four categories in the gold and junior divisions.

Anisha drove the ball 210 yards at the 410-yard second hole, but finished down the list in both gross and nett categories.

In the lead were Arya M. Tikenekar (Pune-86), Premlatha (Chennai-87) and S. Lakshmi and Mita Gowade (88 each) in the gross section, while Tikenekar and Lakshmi topped the handicap division with 70 nett each, ahead of Premalatha Ramraj (72 nett).

In the senior section, former international Lalitha Balasubramaniam (gross-86, nett-78) and Sumi Naniya (gross-96) led the field.

Scores: Gold Division: Open: 75-Lavery Kumar, 77-Shruti Khanna Sodhi, 78-Mehar Atwal and 79-Raksha Phadke. Handicap: 71-Lavery Kumar, 74-Rupa Gurunath, 75-Akrathi Singh, Shruti Khanna Sodhi and Neha Tripathi;

Silver Division: Open: 86-Arya M Tikenekar, 87-Premlatha, 88-S.Lakshmi and Mita Gowade. Handicap: 70-Arya Tikenekar and S.Lakshmi and 72-Premlatha Ramraj.

Bronze Division: Open: 105-Susie Kurien and 111-Bela Phadke. Handicap: 79-Susie Kurien; 80-Palomi Jain.

Juniors: Open: 75-Lavery Kumar, 78- Meha Atwal. Handicap: 71-Lavery Kumar, 75-Neha Tripathy and Akrathy Singh.
