London, July 27 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Late British singer Amy Winehouse was cremated Tuesday after a memorial service was held in north London, world media reported.
The five-time Grammy award winner Winehouse died at the age of 27, the same age as musicians Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones and Kurt Cobain.
Winehouse, notorious for her drug and alcohol use, was found dead in her apartment Saturday. Her body was handed over to relatives after an autopsy, which failed to establish the cause of death. Results of further toxicology tests could take from two to four weeks.
“Goodnight my angel,” her father, Mitch Winehouse, said at the service. “Sleep tight. Mommy and Daddy love you ever so much.”
The service for Winehouse attended by music industry executives, her band mates, close friends and family was held at a synagogue at the Edgwarebury Cemetery. Winehouse was then cremated at the Golders Green crematorium
