Hyderabad, Nov 15 (IANS) Police in Andhra Pradesh’s Warangal district are questioning three constables of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for allegedly raping a 12-year-old mentally challenged girl.

Warangal Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar told IANS Tuesday over phone from Warangal that no arrests had so far been made. “We are examining the CRPF constables,” he said.

The shocking incident came to light after the six-and-half-month old pregnancy of the orphan girl was terminated Saturday on medical advise.

The investigating officials have preserved the foetus and sent it to forensic science laboratory for DNA analysis.

The police official said they were waiting for the court’s nod to conduct paternity test on the accused.

The police suspect the girl was raped in a hostel-cum-school for six to seven months. Kumar said they also suspecting the involvement of hostel warden S. Satyamma, who is frequently changing her statements.

Police learnt that the three CRPF men used to frequent Sai Vikas Home and School for Mentally Retarded, located near a CRPF camp in Bhimaram, about 10 km from Warangal town.

Police are facing problems in investigations as the victim is mentally challenged. The investigators are taking the help of interpreters as she can’t speak and is not in a position to identify the culprits.

The CRPF officials are cooperating with the police in the investigation.
After the incident, the remaining five inmates of the hostel have been shifted to another centre.
