Andhra minister gets additional NRI portfolio
June 5th, 2009 - 8:57 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Hyderabad, June 5 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Higher Education D. Sridhar Babu was Friday given the additional portfolio of Non-Resident Indian (NRI) issues in the wake of attacks on youths from the state in Australia and the US.
Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Friday gave the portfolio to the young minister, who was inducted into the cabinet last month.
In the previous cabinet, the portfolio was with then minister for energy and minorities affairs Mohammed Ali Shabbir.
The department set up in 2006 serves as a single window to solve the problems of NRIs hailing from the state.
A large number of professionals, workers and students from Andhra Pradesh are living in the US, Europe and the Gulf.
