AMU founder’s 113th death anniversary observed
March 27th, 2011 - 6:15 pm ICT by IANSAligarh, March 27 (IANS) The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Sunday observed the 113th death anniversary of its founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
A Quran Khwani (recitation) was organised in the university mosque after morning prayers and Vice Chancellor Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis and Registrar V.K. Abdul Jaleel paid their tributes by laying flowers on Syed’s grave situated in the mosque premises.
Other university officials, teachers and students also participated in the solemn ceremony.
Syed’s death anniversary is observed as day of introspection and when the varsity resolves to carry forward his mission of spreading education far and wide, particularly among marginalized Muslims.
