New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS) Another amnesty scheme for electricity consumers has been introduced in Delhi, a minister said Thursday.Delhi Power Minister A.K. Walia said the month-long scheme will start Aug 25.

“The new amnesty scheme would ensure bringing of consumer under correct tariff category as per use, minimize unauthorized use of electricity and align sanctioned load with load actually being used.

“Under the scheme, conversion from domestic to commercial, agriculture to domestic and industrial to commercial would be allowed where as conversion from domestic/commercial to industrial would be allowed on production of a valid licence issued by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi,” Walia said.

The scheme would also be available to consumers having mixed use - part of the premises used for domestic purpose and part of premises used for non-domestic purposes.

The minister said the implementation of the new amnesty scheme has been made simple and hassle free as applicants would have to fill an application/declaration form, submit a test report for the revised load and revised category, an identification proof and photocopy of latest paid receipt of electricity bill.

“No penalty would be imposed on the consumers for using the electricity in some other category till the date of declaration if the consumer has not already been booked. In already booked cases but not settled, 50 percent penalty would be waived,” Walia added.

Earlier in May this year, Delhi government had launched an amnesty scheme which had provided the people a chance to settle cases of suspected tampered meters.
