American held at Delhi airport for carrying bullet
March 16th, 2011 - 11:38 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 16 (IANS) A 56-year-old American national, CEO of a US-based company, was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport Wednesday for allegedly carrying a live cartridge, police said.
“Daniel Jon Starks was apprehended at the airport during baggage check by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) team,” said CISF spokesperson Rohit Katiyar.
Starks, who work for a cardiac equipment company, was on a business trip to India. He was on his way to Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh.
Just before he could board a chartered flight, a live cartridge of .45 bore automatic Colt pistol was found in his baggage.
The police official said Starks presented a US arms licence but it was not valid, so he was taken into custody.
“He was arrested and presented in a court which sent him to one-day judicial custody,” a senior police official said.
