All Patna schools closed due to cold wave
December 17th, 2011 - 11:08 pm ICT by IANSPatna, Dec 17 (IANS) With an intense cold wave sweeping Bihar, all public and private schools in the state capital have been ordered closed till Dec 25, officials said.
“The Patna district administration has ordered all schools to close from Dec 19 to 25 to provide relief to children from the intense cold,” officials said here.
Patna District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar said that in view of the cold wave, all schools will remain closed till Sunday next.
An intense cold wave is sweeping Bihar with Gaya recording a minimum temperature of 5.2 degrees Celsius and Patna registering a low of 6.6 degrees Celsius Friday.
The weather has affected normal life in the state.
According to Met officials, chilly north-westerly winds have swept the state though the minimum temperature has increased since Sunday.
Dense fog has disrupted air and rail services with several flights delayed and long-distance trains running late.
