All about metal: Siddartha Tytler makes rocking LFW debut
March 14th, 2011 - 2:40 am ICT by IANSMumbai, March 14 (IANS) Designer Siddartha Tytler, son of Congress politician Jagdish Tytler, made his debut at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) with a collection inspired by metals.
Siddartha, who started his label in 2002, did his first ever show at LFW Sunday with Bollywood celebrities like Mukul Dev and Sonali Bendre as the first row occupants.
“The collection was basically called Metalosophy. There were metal elements used in every single piece. Either the thread, colours, sequins, anything. It was a fun collection,” Siddartha told IANS.
“It took a lot of energy and effort because this is my first ever show in Mumbai. So we had to pull it off flawlessly and I think we did that,” he added.
Sensuous jersey, French chiffon, embellished georgette, silk, duchess satin were transformed into dresses, gowns, tops, jackets, kaftans, minis and shirts. The colour story black, white, silver and gold matched the dazzle of the garments.
Metal Mosaic, a fusion of metallic shaped crystals, chain mail, crystal mesh and embroidery, formed patterns to resemble parts of a machine on the garments.
The collection was divided into two segments - white and black.
Opening with a white front cowl dress, followed by leggings with a metallic blouse, Siddartha added on the white, grey, yellow floral design for cocktail dresses, ponchos and micro mini draped jersey dress.
Tiny gold shorts, and batwing white self-design blouse preceded the gold brocade will-power dress, the metallic gold shift, dazzling crystal corsets and wide lapel belted metallic coat dress.
The dramatic end to the white section was a shimmering halter gown.
For midnight drama, which was the black section, Siddartha started the line with a tiny mini skirt, stretch body suit, chiffon beach kaftan swimsuit, one shoulder jersey mini, and sensational crystal corset.
Digital prints on grey chiffon appeared for gowns and draped cocktail dresses.
With the eternally popular black and white splashed with metallic dazzle, Siddartha offered a glamorous collection for the cocktail circuit.
