Madrid, Sep 14 (IANS/EFE) Alejandro Sanz will accompany Tony Bennett onstage at the concert the legendary singer will offer next weekend at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House to promote his album “Duets II”, the Spaniard’s publicists said Tuesday.
The US performer will also be joined by Aretha Franklin and Elton John, the latter of whom collaborated on his 2006 album “Duets: An American Classic”.
Sanz and Bennett will sing “Yesterday I Heard The Rain”, the song that the pair recorded for “Duets II”, an album that will be released Sep 20 and to which Franklin, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow and the late Amy Winehouse, among others, also contributed.
After the musical show, Bennett will be feted for his 85th birthday at an event hosted by Alec Baldwin for the benefit of Exploring the Arts, the charitable group that Bennett and his wife created to promote arts education.
