Al Capone’s gun to be auctioned
May 30th, 2011 - 6:39 pm ICT by IANSLondon, May 30 (IANS) A revolver belonging to American gangster Al Capone has been put up for sale in an online auction and could fetch up to 70,000 pounds ($115,000).
The Chicago gangster specially ordered the Colt .38 revolver in May 1929 to murder seven rivals, the Daily Express reported.
The gun comes with a letter signed by his sister-in-law confirming its authenticity, the report said.
Capone - nicknamed “Scarface” - dominated the mafia in Chicago until his arrest in 1931. He died in 1947.
A gun belonging to outlaw Thomas Coleman “Cole” Younger, a member of the James gang with siblings Frank and Jesse, is also up for sale and could fetch up to 85,000 pounds.
