Ajit Singh to be sworn in as minister Sunday
December 16th, 2011 - 6:22 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 16 (IANS) Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Ajit Singh, who joined the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) recently, will be sworn in as a cabinet minister Sunday, officials said. He is likely to be allotted the civil aviation portfolio.
The swearing-in will he held at 11.30 a.m. at the Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan, a spokesperson of the president’s office told IANS.
The RLD has five MPs in the Lok Sabha, including Singh and his son Jayant Chaudhary. According to political circles, the Congress admitted the RLD into the ruling alliance to improve its prospects in the coming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, as the party has influence in western parts of the state.
