Air Marshal Browne is new IAF vice chief
January 1st, 2011 - 5:21 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 1 (IANS) The Indian Air Force (IAF) Saturday got its new vice chief in Air Marshal N.A.K. Browne. He took over from Air Marshal P.K. Barbora, who retired a day earlier.Browne, who was heading the Delhi-based Western Air Command, laid a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in the capital before joining the office at the Air Headquarters here.
Commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF June 24, 1972, Browne has varied operational experience and has flown aircraft that include Hunter, all variants of MiG-21s, Jaguar and SU-30K.
An alumnus of National Defence Academy, the air marshal is a fighter combat leader who has also served as an instructor at the Tactics and Combat Development Establishment (TACDE) and Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington.
He trained with the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the United Kingdom on Jaguar aircraft and commanded a Jaguar Squadron subsequently.
