Air Force sergeant’s wife murdered in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS) A 32-year-old wife of an Indian Air Force personnel was found stabbed to death in their south Delhi home Thursday. The police have ruled out robbery or theft as the cause behind the murder.Rekha Kuntia was lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab injuries in her second-floor apartment in Lado Sarai of Malviya Nagar area when her domestic help, Aman, 18, returned after buying vegetables around 9.30 a.m.

Aman informed the victim’s husband Pranav Kuntia, an Air Force sergeant, and the police about the incident.

Rekha was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AAIMS) where doctors pronounced her dead.

The police said Rekha and Pranav had married four years ago and have a two-and-half-year-old mentally challenged son.

The couple were living in Lado Sarai for the last four years and had employed Aman during the same time.

“We don’t have enmity with anyone. I don’t know who killed my wife and what was the reason behind it,” Pranav told reporters.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) H.G.S. Dhaliwal said entry into the house was friendly.

“We rule out robbery as motive behind the killing. The house has not been ransacked. The laptop cannot be found, but the family is checking. We have registered a case and have started inquiring into the matter,” Dhaliwal said.

According to senior police officials, the family’s domestic help has been picked up for interrogation.

“Rekha’s husband’s role is also under scanner but we strongly suspect it could be a case of infidelity. We are probing the matter from every possible angle,” said a police officer.
