Air force school asked to issue marksheet to student
June 25th, 2009 - 10:43 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 25 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Thursday asked the Air Force Bal Bharati School here to issue within two days the marksheet to a Class 12 student after it withheld it on the ground that he failed to pay the hiked tution fee.
The court, however, directed the student’s father A.K. Aggarwal to deposit the entire fee amount with the court till the disposal of his petition.
Filing a petition, Aggarwal, a retired wing commander, alleged that the school management was upset with him and his son, who passed the Class 12 examinations from the Lodhi Road school, as he has approached the court challenging the fee hike.
Aggarwal accused the school authorities of arbitrarily hiking the fee up to 40 percent, violating the provisions of the Delhi Education Act.
He said the government has allowed only the unaided private schools to hike the fee but the Air Force Bal Bharati School has been getting government aid and the policy was not applicable to it.
In February this year, the Delhi government allowed private unaided schools to hike their tution fees to meet increased expenditure on raised salaries of the teachers and other school staff.
