Air Force choppers make emergency landing in Punjab

Jalandhar, May 29 (IANS) Two MI-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force (IAF) made an emergency landing in fields near Gumtala village in Punjab’s Jalandhar district Thursday after one of them developed a snag. IAF officials said the crew of both helicopters was safe.

The choppers were on routine flying duty from the Pathankot air force base in north Punjab to another base near Ludhiana.

While one helicopter was forced to land in the fields after it developed a snag during flight in the afternoon, the other helicopter landed nearby to provide assistance.

Villagers rushed to the spot to help the crew. IAF officials from Ludhiana also rushed there.
