Hyderabad, April 22 (IANS) A crucial meeting of the executive committee of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) is beginning here Saturday to discuss a host of issues, including the course of action to be adopted in the Babri Masjid case in the Supreme Court.

The two-day meeting will take a decision on filing more appeals against the Allahabad High Court judgement on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit in Ayodhya.

The 51-member executive committee, the highest policy-making body, is expected to take a decision on filing five more appeals against the 8,162-page judgment of the high court on the ground that it was based on faith and not on evidence.

AIMPLB assistant general secretary Rahim Qureshi said these appeals would be in addition to the four already filed by the body before the Supreme Court.

The Allahabad High Court on Sep 30 last year had ruled that the 2.77 acre disputed land in Ayodhya be divided into three parts - one for Hindus, one for Ram Lalla and one for Muslims. It also held that the place where the makeshift temple currently exists belongs to Hindus.

Qureshi said the four appeals were likely to come up for hearing after the summer vacation. “Since there are many infirmities in the Allahabad High Court judgement and they can’t be covered under four appeals, the board is filing more number of appeals,” he said.

The meeting, to be presided over by the board president Moulana Syed Mohammed Rabe Hasan Nadvi, will also take a decision on appointing five more lawyers for the case.

The apex body has already engaged the services of four senior lawyers - Rajiv Dhawan, Anoop G. Chowdhary, Yousuf Habeeb Muchala and P.B. Rao.

The meeting, to be held at well-known seminary Jamia Islamia Dar-ul-Uloom at Shivrampally, will discuss issues like Wakf Amendment Bill 2010, the Direct Taxes Code Bill, Right to Education Act, Darul-Qaza, child adoption and maintenance for divorced women.
