AIIMS board to find cause of Nirupama Pathak’s death
July 5th, 2010 - 9:17 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, July 5 (IANS) The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has constituted a forensic board to ascertain the cause of Delhi scribe Nirupama Pathak’s death at her family home in Jharkhand, officials Monday said.
The board, formed at the request of the Jharkhand government, will examine the autopsy report and question the three doctors who conducted the proceedings, government sources said. The board is likely to hold meeting in third week of the month.
The three doctors, Shiva Kumar, K.P. Singh and Ashish have been asked to appear before the board. Singh had admitted before media persons that he conducted autopsy first time in his life.
According to police, the three-member team which conducted postmortem examination did not mention the time of her death. Her viscera and the foetus she carried were not preserved. Also, the report did not mention about the injury marks on Nirupama’s body. The doctors termed the death as murder without substantiating the evidence.
Investigators are yet to conclude whether Nirupama, found dead in home at Koderma April 29, committed suicide or she was murdered.
The report of the Kolkata Forensic Science Laboratory concluded the writing on the suicide note was of Nirupama herself.
Sudha Pathak, mother of Nirupama, was arrested May 3 on charges of killing her daughter. The family insists that Nirupama committed suicide but her boyfriend Priyabhanshu Ranjan alleged that she was killed by her family members who were against their relationship.
